LCUK is governed by three bodies working together: the Executive Committee elected to run the organisation, the Central Council of Mahajan representatives that elects and directs it, and the Trustees who provide oversight.

Every active Mahajan appoints representatives to the Central Council — the voice of the sixteen member communities.

LCUK governance is built on three bodies working together. The Central Council is made up of representatives from all sixteen Mahajans and is where the whole community is heard. The Executive Committee runs the organisation day to day. The Board of Trustees holds it to account and safeguards its charitable purpose. Together they make sure LCUK acts for the community that elects it.
The Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees are elected at the Annual Delegates Conference, where the Mahajans send their delegates. The current officers were elected at the 38th conference, held in Leicester in July 2026, for the 2026 to 2027 tenure. This open, elected structure is what keeps the governance of LCUK accountable to all sixteen Mahajans rather than to any one of them.
