Festival Day 2026 at Hertfordshire Sports Village

Festival Day 2026 was held on Sunday 20 September at Hertfordshire Sports Village in Hatfield. Sixteen Mahajans brought one community to one site, from the opening ceremony in the morning to the closing photograph and the presentation of the first Mahajan Shield to North London. It was a genuinely intergenerational day, with players from children through to grandparents on the courts, the pitches and the tables.

What the Festival Day 2026 pictures capture is not only the sport. There is the queue at the chai urn, the reunions in the stands, the parents coaching from the touchline and the volunteers who ran the desks all day. That is the real record of the day, and it is why so many of the frames are of the sidelines rather than the finals.

Seven sports in one day

The Festival Day 2026 programme ran badminton, table tennis, squash, pickleball and tennis across the halls and courts, the seven-a-side football outside, and youth cricket played for fun. Finals ran through the afternoon, and the trophies were presented together at the close, alongside the first Mahajan Shield. Every champion and runner-up from the day is listed on the results page.

The Festival Day 2026 photographs were shot between matches by Nishit Kotak, with help from players, parents and committee members. Browse the full gallery, tag your family, and see every result on the results page. The pool and golf galleries from earlier in the festival are linked there too.

Photographs from the 2025 festival are archived on the same gallery page, if you want to see how far the day has come in a few short years. New frames are still being added as players and families share their own from the weekend.
